Bear market
Bear market is the term used to describe a downward trend in a financial market. On the other hand, an upward trend is referred to as a bull market. An entire market cycle always consists of a bear market and a subsequent bull market.
The same dynamics can be observed in the crypto markets. After almost two years of rising prices, the crypto bull market came to an end towards the beginning of the year in line with the change of direction by the US Federal Reserve. 2022 was primarily marked by this downturn, which led to the collapse of various unsustainable projects and companies. If history rhymes, the next 4-year cycle should re-start next year.
