After successfully selling the first crypto stamps in 2021, Swiss Post plans to release a collection this year as well. In collaboration with the Locarno Film Festival, the Swiss Crypto Stamp 2.0 will be available from August 8 at a unit price of CHF 9.
Last winter, Switzerland received its first crypto stamp, with Inacta providing the necessary technical solution. The circulation of 175,000 copies was sold out within 5 hours on November 25, 2021. Now Swiss Post is continuing the success story. The Swiss Crypto Stamp 2.0 is based on a collaboration with the prestigious Locarno Film Festival. On August 8, 2022, the new crypto stamp will be released and this time the NFT is a video clip; all about Swiss filmmaking.
Swiss stamp as NFT
The Swiss Crypto Stamp 2.0 presents itself with ten different subjects. There are 25,000 copies of each subject, making the latest collection 250,000 crypto stamps. Each of these crypto stamps consists of two parts. On the one hand, it is a physical stamp worth CHF 9.00 - self-sticking, for franking postal items and quite traditional in its handling. On the other hand, each crypto stamp unlocks a so-called NFT (Non-Fungible Token) associated with it. Inacta was once again able to provide the technical solution for this digital feature.
Stamp stored on the blockchain
The NFTs are stored on the energy-efficient Polygon blockchain. The technical solution required for this from Inacta includes, among other things, the creation of the 250,000 tokens. Further its requires the set-up of the smart contract and the IT infrastructure around the digital wallet. For this, Inacta was able to draw on a wide range of experience regarding international NFT projects together with its venture Tokengate. Tokengate provides a platform for initial issuance of tokens and NFTs. Christian Di Giorgio, Principal Consultant at Inacta and specialized in blockchain technologies for many years, closely accompanied both Swiss Crypto Stamps regarding the technical solution.
"The crypto stamps open up a great opportunity to vividly demonstrate the digital transformation and the potential of blockchain on an everyday object and make it accessible to everyone. We hope to be able to demonstrate the great potential of this technology to a broad public." - Christian Di Giorgio, Principal Consultant at Inacta
The Swiss Crypto Stamp 2.0 will be released on August 8, 2022 at 7:30 a.m., in an edition of 250,000 copies. The second Swiss crypto stamp will be available from this date at counters in selected post offices. It can be ordered at all post offices and online at www.postshop.ch.
