    TPS – Transactions per Second

    Transactions per Second (TPS) ist eine zentrale Kennzahl zur Bewertung der Leistungsfähigkeit einer Blockchain. Sie gibt an, wie viele Transaktionen ein Netzwerk pro Sekunde verarbeiten kann und ist ein wichtiger Indikator für Skalierbarkeit und Effizienz.

    TPS beeinflusst direkt die Geschwindigkeit und Kosten von Transaktionen. Netzwerke mit hoher TPS wie Solana ermöglichen schnelle Abwicklungen und niedrige Gebühren, während Blockchains mit niedriger TPS wie Bitcoin oder Ethereum in Stosszeiten oft langsam und teuer werden. Für Entwickler, Nutzer und Investoren ist TPS entscheidend, um die praktische Nutzung eines Netzwerks einzuschätzen.

    Die Anzahl der Transaktionen pro Sekunde zeigt, wie gut ein Netzwerk mit hoher Nachfrage umgehen kann. Ein höherer TPS-Wert bedeutet, dass mehr Nutzer gleichzeitig Transaktionen durchführen können, ohne dass es zu Verzögerungen kommt. Neben TPS spielen jedoch auch andere Faktoren eine Rolle, wie Netzwerk-Sicherheitsmechanismen, Blockgrösse und Konsensprotokoll.

    TPS im Vergleich zwischen Blockchains

    Beispielsweise kann Solana theoretisch über 50'000 TPS erreichen, während Ethereum derzeit rund 15–30 TPS ohne Layer-2-Lösungen verarbeitet. Layer-2-Skalierungslösungen wie Arbitrum oder Optimism erhöhen die effektive TPS für Ethereum erheblich. Für Unternehmen und Entwickler, die Anwendungen mit hoher Nutzerzahl bauen, ist TPS eine entscheidende Kennzahl bei der Auswahl der Blockchain.

    Die TPS-Zahl beeinflusst direkt die Nutzung von DeFi-Plattformen und NFT-Marktplätzen. Niedrige TPS kann zu Verzögerungen, hohen Gasgebühren und schlechter Nutzererfahrung führen, insbesondere bei beliebten Anwendungen wie NFT-Drops oder Lending-Protokollen. Hohe TPS-Netzwerke ermöglichen hingegen schnelle Transaktionen, geringere Kosten und eine reibungslosere Skalierung, was sie für Entwickler und Investoren attraktiver macht.
