Canton of Neuchâtel joins the Swiss Blockchain Federation

By Editorial Office CVJ.CH on 23. January 2023 News

The Canton of Neuchâtel, a key player in the Swiss blockchain industry, has become a member of the Swiss Blockchain Federation as of January 1st, 2023. Together, the parties aim to further strengthen Switzerland as an internationally recognized blockchain hub.

In recent years, Neuchâtel has developed its own blockchain ecosystem centered around industrial applications. The canton now comprises over 55 companies that work closely with economic actors and universities. This pioneering engagement is now being expanded throughout Switzerland and beyond. A crucial milestone on this journey is the membership and collaboration with the established and internationally renowned Swiss Blockchain Federation.

Cantonal support for the blockchain ecosystem increases

The Swiss Blockchain Federation has been growing consistently since its formation in 2018 and, with 80 members from various industries, has been successfully promoting Switzerland as an attractive blockchain location (Crypto Valley). The Canton of Neuchâtel enhances the Swiss Blockchain Federation with its acknowledged expertise in the areas of blockchain, digital currencies, tokens, and ICOs. In addition to Neuchâtel, the cantons of Ticino, Zug, and Zurich are already members of the Swiss Blockchain Federation.

"Neuchâtel's membership strengthens the canton on the Swiss map of blockchain technology. This is an acknowledgement of the Neuchâtel community, which continuously advocates for the development of this innovation-promoting sector, particularly in relation to the industrial breeding ground. The Swiss Blockchain Federation serves as a catalyst between the various Swiss regions. We look forward to the synergies that will be found through this organization." - Alain Ribaux, State Councilor and Head of the Department of Economy, Security, and Culture

Heinz Tännler, President of the Swiss Blockchain Federation, also expresses his delight at the membership of another canton. The conditions in the individual ecosystems and cantons are already good. According to Tännler, now it is a matter of making these even more visible and connecting them. Experience shows that cantons that have set themselves early on blockchain, become an attractive location for emerging companies, create added value, and enjoy much appreciation in the international blockchain scene.
