Luxury hotel Dolder Grand introduces a new ATM for crypto currencies

By Editorial Office CVJ.CH on 20. October 2020 News

From now on, guests of the Zurich Dolder Grand Hotel can buy and sell crypto-currencies on site - very conveniently - at the crypto ATM.

For some time now, guests have been able to pay for overnight stays, food, drinks and spa treatments with Bitcoin at the Dolder Grand. It was the Dolder Grand's wish to supplement this offer with a crypto-ATM.

    In cooperation with Värdex

Crypto currencies can be bought and sold at the now installed crypto-ATM. The most common currencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash can now be exchanged for Swiss francs and euros. Värdex, as the largest crypto financial service provider in the retail segment, operates, among other things, the largest network of crypto-ATMs in Switzerland. Present at more than 70 Swiss locations already, crypto-currencies can be bought and sold at Värdex vending machines.

The demand for crypto-currencies has increased significantly since the outbreak of the Corona crisis. Thus, many use the Värdex machines to gain first experiences with crypto currencies. Accordingly, the Värdex ATM in the Dolder Grand also offers the possibility to buy parts of crypto currencies in small denominations. This gives everyone the opportunity to familiarize themselves with crypto-currencies without having to buy or sell an entire Bitcoin (current value about CHF 10,000).

    Bitcoin as a payment option

André Meier, Director of Finance at Dolder Hotel AG, comments on the new partnership with Värdex:

"We always want to offer our guests more - and technology plays a major role in this. Only new technological developments have made many improvements possible in recent years. This is why we introduced Bitcoin as a payment option in May 2019. With the latest offer of a crypto-ATM in the hotel, our service is now being expanded and further optimized." - André Meier, Director of Finance at Dolder Hotel AG

Värdex has been operating vending machines in various hotels in Switzerland for some time, such as the Hilton at Zurich Airport and the Parkhotel Zug. The experience from these hotels is evidence that guests make use of this opportunity to buy and sell crypto currencies easily at ATMs. With the new device in Zurich's Dolder Grand, Värdex is meeting this demand, and further expanding its network of crypto-currency ATMs.
