Technical Analysis Good Morning! Just when you thought things could only go up, bitcoin proves you wrong! I will now attempt to dig deep into the structure of the market without pointing to a single trigger that caused the move. This is because I believe there was no trigger. Let’s start with the pure price action on the daily chart. Bitcoin BTC (daily) We…

Recurring market commentary on what’s happening in the crypto markets, summarized by Crypto Finance AG Senior Trader Patrick Heusser. Market commentary Good Morning! How do I see the cryptocurrency ecosystem evolving? Especially when it comes to DeFi? And how do I label the various sectors and subdivisions? Our Market Reports by no means try to be complete analyses of the crypto asset landscape, but they are my way of trying to keep up with all of the numerous developments, and document what I see as potential opportunities and possible shortfalls. Today’s report is a continuation of my “five-year plan”, which…

Today we take a look at the DOT token, native to the Polkadot blockchain, which is one of the many tokens we analyse in our sector reports. A brief introduction to Polkadot Polkadot is a new generation blockchain protocol that simplifies cross-chain communication and interoperability by bringing multiple blockchains securely and seamlessly into one network. Its aim: to be a framework for all blockchains. Sector: Smart contract Category: Infrastructure Token type: Native Token usage: Vote, Payment Consensus…

Technical Analysis Good Morning! Yet another TA-Tuesday with Bitcoin (BTC) just under the $50k mark… Bitcoin BTC (4h) Over the weekend, I published a short post about a potential rising wedge. It was kind of confirmed, but then changed straight away with aggressive buying at around the $46k mark. Now, we are back at the top, but seem to be struggling to push through.…

Recurring market commentary on what’s happening in the crypto markets, summarized by Crypto Finance AG Senior Trader Patrick Heusser. Market commentary Good Morning! Bitcoin BTC$ Update I do not want to be the party-pooper but this potential rising wedge could hurt our over leveraged retail traders on Binance and Bybit. March term future basis trades at over 5% with only six weeks till maturity (that is 45% annualized). Perpetual funding is also on the upper end of the scale. CREAM exploit A quick update on the CREAM and Iron Bank exploit. For the ones who follow our market commentary we…

Recurring market commentary on what’s happening in the crypto markets, summarized by Crypto Finance AG Senior Trader Patrick Heusser. Market commentary Good Morning! TGIF… Today, I thought it would be fun to throw out an idea and see what your response is. There were two major news headlines yesterday: BNY Mellon to offer Bitcoin custody Mastercard to bring “selected cryptocurrencies” to its network (similar to the VISA announcement late last year) I fully understand the BNY Mellon push into the digital asset space. It is the logical step for tradfin companies in order to not lose relevance. In my opinion,…

Recurring market commentary on what’s happening in the crypto markets, summarized by Crypto Finance AG Senior Trader Patrick Heusser. Market commentary Good Morning! It’s a short commentary from me today, but here you will also find a good read from Messari on Web3. The many discussions I have been having with people from traditional finance about the change that is happening in their industry is probably very similar to some of the discussions decentralised application developers have about Web3 with their peers who are at large companies such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon, and the like. Now, imagine that you are…

Technical Analysis Good Morning! Luckily, the bitcoin move happened yesterday. Otherwise, my TA would have been outdated within mere minutes. With a move of such magnitude, it makes sense to zoom out a great deal and have a look at the price developments over the last five years. Bitcoin BTC$ (weekly) Ever since we broke through the Ichimoku cloud and the cloud itself turned…

Recurring market commentary on what’s happening in the crypto markets, summarized by Crypto Finance AG Senior Trader Patrick Heusser. Market commentary Good Morning! I hope you can forgive the fact that many of my previous posts have been about DeFi topics and its various projects. Just as a little warning… there are many more to come in 2021! And on that note: the Consensys Q4 DeFi report provides a really good summary of what is going on in this space without diving too much into details. It is perfect for all you tradfin people out there who want to get…

Studies on traded volumes, supply and demand situations, as well as periodic technical analysis of the most important crypto-currencies and indices, including the perspective of professional Traders. Technical Analysis Good Morning! I have been receiving quite a few community requests to please have a look at ETH. Here you go… Ethereum ETH$ (4h) I have been feeling a bit worried about the bullish sentiment towards ETH$ for quite some time now. Over the course of last month, we started forming a potential rising wedge, which is a bearish pattern when resolved.…

An overview of what is happening in the crypto markets, summarised by Crypto Finance AG Senior Trader Patrick Heusser in the market commentary. Market commentary Good Morning! Here you will find Ray Dalio’s view on Bitcoin. I actually do not have much to add, and can only recommend that you read his intro. On a very high level, it is “bang on the money”. The only part I would have liked to have seen a bit more exploration effort from Ray’s research team is on the potential network effect. Bitcoin’s advantages and its potential coexistence as an alternative in the…

An overview of what is happening in the crypto markets, summarised by Crypto Finance AG Senior Trader Patrick Heusser in the market commentary. Market commentary Good Morning! The stablecoin market is seeing increased adoption and the network is expanding. Circle is pushing hard on that front and announced the integration of their stablecoin USDC on the Solana (SOL) blockchain. https://twitter.com/jerallaire/status/1353743254907457538?s=20 It is not just an expansion of the Circle services, it is probably also more of a collaboration with the FTX/Alameda team (Sam Bankman-Fried). With this move, the Solana blockchain is definitely a serious alternative to the Ethereum blockchain. With…

Financial innovation is great. Anyone who says that financial industry workers are not creative hasn’t got a clue. Some of you have read, or may remember, the various articles I have written about financial product innovation in the DeFi space. The latest article I wrote was on the “Iron Bank”. Rahul (a guest writer for Messari) and a fellow I follow on Twitter put together a very nice report about the fixed income…

Technical Analysis Good Morning! BTC$ (4h) We are still consolidating, but things look slightly different now… The symmetrical triangle did not hold. When we dipped down to the $29k area, the structure broke. Additionally, the price pushed through the Ichimoku cloud and stayed below it for several days. In fact, we are still below it, and the cloud has started to act as a…

An overview of what is happening in the crypto markets, summarised by Crypto Finance AG Senior Trader Patrick Heusser in the market commentary. Market commentary Good Morning! It’s been another “green” weekend for the DeFi sector, but also for ETH. I have not witnessed that much talk about the ETHBTC cross for a long time. There is definitely some rotation going on out of BTC and into ETH or smaller (mainly) DeFi coins. Do not get me wrong, the rotation already started late last year, but over the past one to two weeks, it has picked up in speed (and…

An overview of what is happening in the crypto markets, summarised by Crypto Finance AG Senior Trader Patrick Heusser in the market commentary. Market commentary Good Morning! I hadn’t planned on posting a market commentary today, but two ladies kind of forced me into it. Christine Lagarde showed once again that she does not have the slightest clue about cryptocurrencies, especially bitcoin. In my view, money laundering and terror financing are the weakest arguments against bitcoin. I can understand, of course, that a head of a central bank (side remark: with a badly functioning currency/monetary system) feels threatened by bitcoin.…
